Adventure To Fate: A Quest To The Core JRPG

This is a marvellous little retro game that bills itself as a JRPG but is in fact a dungeon crawler. It was a very simple and satisfying game, nicely balanced and challenging without ever being punishing. There were also some “secrets” to find, such as a wall you could walk through, and invisible teleporters. I liked the mechanic of being able to teleport back to the nearest market and back whenever I reached a staircase.

Character creation is through an old-school style dice roll, but it seemed to be pretty easy to max out the stats you wanted without getting RSI. This game has about 30 floors, each with its own encampment where there’s a merchant plus a temple to heal in.
