Exiled Kingdoms

It’s hard to know where to start with a game like Exiled Kingdoms. Simply put: it’s the classic open-world Action RPG you’ve always dreamed of.

It’s huge, and as an isometric game you’ll probably be reminded of Spiderweb Software games, and Eschalon. There are myriad quests, items, factions, towns and dungeons. There’s a really well organised “journal” to keep track. It’s also simple: the interface is clean and clear, there’s a quicksave as well as regular saves and autosaves, and they’re still adding content and new areas.

It’s single-player + companion, and you will need to switch companions to access a couple of quests. The other companions wait for you – both where you found them, and in the house you later get (two places at once!) and they keep all their equipment while they wait. You can give them Battle Orders which allows you to control combat strategy, eg: “Attack all enemies in sight” or “Attack only enemies that are very close to you”.

In the devs’ own words:

Exiled Kingdoms is a single player Action-RPG that allows you to roam freely through a unique world. It is an isometric game, inspired by some of the best role-playing games from the past decades; it brings back the old spirit of the classics in many ways: a challenging environment, choices with consequences, and a solid game system, with different paths to develop your character.
